Help Jack Cat Recover from Painful Abscess

Jack Cat is our sweet little old man who we love more than anything. Tuesday night I noticed his face was swollen and he had a small scrap on him faces. I cleaned him up and kept an eye on him. He wasn’t acting like he was in pain and has been eating/drinking like normal. By Thursday morning the swelling had gone down. Last night (Friday) we noticed his face was swollen again and blood was coming out of his mouth. Our poor baby has an abscess. We took him into the emergency clinic this morning and it has been lanced and drained. He is currently on antibiotics and other pain meds while we wait to get him in for a tooth extraction. We would greatly appreciate any and all help. We love you all and thank you.

Updated 6/25: Jack is doing well and loving his new soft food diet. He finished his pain meds and has a few more days of antibiotics. Unfortunately, he won’t stop scratching his face and ripped it open again. He now has a donut collar which he hates but it’s for the best. Again anything helps and thank you to all who have shared and donated. We are getting closer to him fully recovering.

Update 7/1: Jack’s face start swelling Sunday night and last night his face split open again. We took him in this morning. The vet has ruled out a tooth abscess and he will not be needing a tooth extraction. They are very worried as to why it isn’t healing properly. The abscess itself is gone but he still has fluid buildup and his face is horribly inflamed. Luckily there is no signs of infection. He has been placed on steroids and antibiotics and goes back in for a follow up next week. If he is not on track for healing by the time he returns they will be doing a biopsy. So today we were able to get real answers but still have some uncertainties.
