Restore the Beauty that Cancer Takes Away: Wig Fundraiser
Donación protegida
As many of you know, I’ve been diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer known as a leiomyosarcoma. It’s a cancer that attaches to any smooth muscle tissue in the body, be it a regular muscle or an organ. I had surgery to remove a softball sized part of the tumor in October, and I just finished up radiation. Radiation was tough with doing about 8 weeks (38 sessions) of radiation and dealing with the unrelenting fatigue that goes along with it. Luckily I didn't get too many radiation burns from it. Now my next step in treatment is going to be chemotherapy, which will inevitably result in losing all of my hair. Having long hair has always been a part of who I am, so losing my hair is going to be really hard. So far I’ve lost 75% of my bladder to cancer, along with the ability to bear children. As a result of radiation killing my uterus, I can no longer bear children. I've always wanted kids, so down the road once I get through the long fight and am fully recovered, we will be needing a surrogate too in order for me to have children of my own blood. That's something for down the road though. Right now the focus is on chemo and the affects that it will have. Losing my hair is going to be extremely difficult to go through. Anyone who knows me knows that I've always had long hair and the shock of losing it all is going to be very difficult mentally. As such, I'm trying to get money for a nice wig so that the transition will hopefully be a little bit easier.
As a result of having cancer, I’ve lost my job, and have very little energy to work and am currently on disability. I’m hoping that you can find it in your heart to donate whatever you can to help me raise money for a nice wig. Having long hair has always been a part of me, and so I am trying to raise money to get a nice wig so that the cancer doesn’t get to take that away from me too. Thanks in advance for your help! Every little bit is very much appreciated!
