REBUILD OUR HOME AFTER RUSSIAN MISSILE ATTACK
Deducible
Dear friends,
My name is Kateryna Stoian. With faith in the power of kindness and empathy, I ask you to support my parents Serhii and Nataliia Stoian with the rebuilding of their house that was destroyed by the russian Kh-22 missile in Dnipro city, Ukraine.
Forever in my memory is the morning of June 24, 2023 and my sister's call - "Parents are alive, half of the house critically destroyed". Parents miraculously survived behind the second wall from the one that was destroyed in the video. Physically survived, they are mentally killed. Most of their lives have been killed. The family hearth, which they had been building for 30 years with their own hands, turned into ruins. The cozy retirement home, where three generations spent a lot of time together, has turned into rubble and cracks on the walls. The Commission on destruction forbids being in the house. Parents still remain in that part of the house that suffered less with the hope of its rebuilding.
Like many Ukrainian mothers, I took my little daughter Agatha to a safe place in the UK. Parents categorically refused to leave Ukraine, explaining that their whole life was there.
I CANNOT physically help to clear the ruins up, collecting things that were once part of our lives, part of my personal childhood and development. My piano, scientific works, the first drawings and other Agatha’s achievements, memorabilia remained in the destroyed part.
I CANNOT physically hug and support my closest ones, who gave me life, brought me up, supported me on the way to achieve my PhD degree, were always there and supported me in all difficult situations, not letting me break down. Thanks to my parents, I was able to realize the desire to help others. Many in Ukraine know me for my charitable activities in support of the intellectual development of children with Down syndrome www.prism.org.ua. In an instant, the helper can turn into someone who asks for support.
Now the moment has come when I have to help my parents to recover from the nightmare and just live. But what CAN I do, as a daughter, being so far from my Mum and Dad? I can ask everyone who reads our story, everyone who appreciates their parents as highly as I do mine, to support me with fundraising.
Agatha, with the sincerity of a 6-year-old child, is convinced that we will find a way to help her grandparents. Children rarely make mistakes. Thanks to the Two Freedoms Foundation (USA), which has been helping to improve the quality of life of Ukrainian families for many years, we were able to launch a fundraiser in support of my parents. This is our only chance. All funds will be transferred to cover expenses for the rebuilding.
Assistance for the rebuilding of the house is estimated at $47,155, which is:
1. Material costs for the rebuilding of a house are $22,500:
- to rebuild the roof and the attic floor - $3,474;
- repair 1st floor - $7,632;

4. insulation of the facade - $2,842;
5. heating repair - $711;
6. repair of water supply and sewage - $395;
In the first week after the tragedy, we raised $4,000 with the support of Ukrainian and British friends. $15 000 more is necessary to start rebuilding walls and the roof before winter comes. This amount is possible only thanks to the kindness and generosity of each of you who are now reading the story of our grief. Every feasible donation brings us closer to the cherished help.
We are sincerely grateful to everyone for the help that will go to rebuild my parents' house, for reposts and energy support to our family.
