Urgent Fundraising for the Chelsfield Cricket Club Renovation Project

Introduction:
Founded in 1731, Chelsfield Cricket Club is a beloved institution with a deep history and a vibrant community spirit. As one of the oldest cricket clubs in the region, we have witnessed countless matches, celebrations, and friendships over the years. However, our cherished clubhouse, a testament to this legacy, now urgently requires your support for critical renovations.
The current wooden pavilion, originally classrooms from a Kent school, was carefully dismantled, stored for about a year, and reassembled at Bucks Cross Road in Chelsfield Village. It was officially inaugurated by the Mayor of Bromley Council in 1983. Over time, this structure has withstood the elements, but now, wear and tear have left it vulnerable.
To ensure its continued safe use and transform it into a sustainable facility, we must carry out significant repairs. These include adding insulation, improving heating, upgrading essential amenities such as indoor and outdoor storage, and toilets, replacing a crumbling wall that can no longer support the weight of the structure, and replacing the plywood doors with modern PVC doors and the rotted wooden windows with modern double-glazed ones.
These improvements are essential to ensure that the clubhouse remains a safe and welcoming space for its users that also includes children from two local schools: Chelsfield Primary School and Brown's School, which serves children with learning challenges such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, and autism spectrum disorders.
Our clubhouse is more than just a building; it is the heart of our community. It has been the gathering place for generations of players, supporters, and families, hosting celebrations, social events, and, of course, cricket matches. To preserve this legacy, we urgently need funds to make these critical repairs and ensure the clubhouse remains a vibrant and safe space for future generations.
