Remy's Transport
Donation protected
Hi Everyone,
As many of you know, Wallace had hip surgery 5 months ago. Many staff members were a tremendous help, but nobody helped as much as Youssef. His care, devotion, and commitment to not only Wallace but myself was instrumental in getting Wallace back on his feet.
As the journey went on, I got to know Youssef well. He is a remarkable human and has just been accepted into the amazing University of Glasgow to continue his passion for animals and spend the next 5 years there to become a Veterinarian. With 5yrs of school loans, moving, and flight expenses, the journey is not cheap, but there is one more expense that is crucial to Youssef.
His rescue dog Remy is 7yrs old, and their bond is palpable. They are a unit, and without some help from us, they will be separated. Transporting a dog internationally is extremely expensive - to get Remy to Scotland is $4800. Anyone out there that has ever had a pet dear to their heart knows - you never leave them. We need to help Remy make this flight and live out the rest of his life in Scotland with the one person that never ever gave up on him. Please help if you’re able to in any way. Below is Youssef and Remy's story.
"I used to work at an animal shelter, and Remy was one of the dogs who had been a long-time resident. He was a 7-year-old dog who had been returned 3 times in his 2-and-a-half-year stay. He had held the record for the most returns out of his shelter mates. Remy’s history has caused him to be a weary dog and sometimes was distrusting of strangers. Unfortunately, he was unable to find someone who could give him the time and patience he needed to flourish in a home. Due to his demeanor, he was out on the euthanasia list. I had seen Remy be so wonderful and friendly with the staff and decided to foster him myself to help give him a good couple of weeks before his bleak end. We went to the beach, and he stuck his head out of the window, played on the sand, and zoomed for the first time ever. It was unbelievable that this was the same broken dog from the shelter. After an amazing day showing this puppy what it is like to live life, I couldn’t let him go back to deteriorate. I stayed fostering him for the next couple of months and fought for his survival, and I tried to work on his reactivity. Survey enough, on my birthday, I decided to adopt Remy, and the rest is history."
