Hello, my name is Anne and I volunteer at a small alpaca farm in Vilalba, Lugo called New Horizons Alpacas.

Throughout Jan & Feb, several weather warnings and a deluge of rain have hit the area. The most recent caused severe damage to the barn that houses the male alpacas. Strong winds tore tiles from the roof and ripped out the flashing in three sections. It has left permanent damage and with every rainfall it continues to pour down the walls and through the ceiling, which requires multiple buckets to catch, but flooding is inevitable. With half the barn flooded, it leaves their living space wet and vulnerable and these gentle boys wellbeing compromised. Wet conditions can quickly lead to stress and illness, and we are all determined not to let that happen.

On behalf of New Horizons Alpacas I am now trying to raise €4,000 to help them:
• Repair the damaged roof
• Replace the flashing with secure panels
• Restore the barn to a dry, safe place for their alpacas

This comes at an increasingly difficult time for New Horizons; they are in the final stages of meeting council requirements to receive their opening licence, which will allow them to open the farm to the public, run educational visits, therapy visits, and build a sustainable future. Every available resource and spare euro has already gone into improvements, compliance and fulfilling these requirements.

These repairs are totally unexpected, but absolutely fundamental to continuing with this project. Without a secure roof, they cannot provide the safe environment their alpacas need.

If you cannot donate, sharing this fundraiser will mean the world to Lauren & Tony at New Horizons. They have poured their hearts and soul into building this alpaca farm here in Galicia, and with our support, they can overcome this setback and continue their vision of creating something magical for the families of Galicia.

Hola, me llamo Anne y soy voluntaria en una pequeña granja de alpacas en Vilalba, Lugo, España, llamada New Horizons Alpacas.

Durante enero y febrero, varias alertas meteorológicas y un diluvio azotaron la zona. El más reciente causó graves daños en las cuadra de los alpacas macho. Los fuertes vientos arrancaron tejas del techo y arrancaron los tapajuntas en tres secciones. Esto ha dejado daños permanentes y, con cada lluvia, sigue cayendo por las paredes y el techo, lo que requiere varios cubos para recogerla, pero las inundaciones son inevitables.

En nombre de New Horizons Alpacas, estoy intentando recaudar 4000 euros para ayudarles a:

-Reparar el techo dañado

-Reemplazar los tapajuntas con paneles de seguridad

-Devolver las cuadra a un lugar seco y seguro para sus alpacas

Esto llega en un momento cada vez más difícil para New Horizons Alpacas. Están en la fase final del proceso para obtener la licencia de apertura, lo que les permitirá abrir la granja al público, realizar visitas educativas, visitas de terapia y construir un futuro sostenible. Todos los recursos disponibles y euros disponibles ya se han invertido en mejoras y cumplimiento de estos requisitos.
