Recover cost of serving KPFT

I was approached in July 2017 by the interim ED of Pacifica to step up as interim GM and stabilize KPFT. The station had just failed to raise 50% of needed funds and the number of listeners and supporters was declining. Without a Program Director I had to make major changes in the programing while holding true to the Pacifica mission statement and community. I also had to survive a very hostile and angry portion of the Local Station Board and staff while bringing programmers together to represent the best of the community and KPFT. I had to make major personnel cuts and focus on keeping KPFT alive and paying our share of Central Services account that allows Pacifica to operate. I reduced the fund drives down to 3 a year and we still made our financial obligations. My decision to take this responsibility on with no salary was made because KPFT was close to failing, and I believe in the vision Lewis Hill had for non commercial listener sponsored community radio.
