Rebuilding Lives: help the Murtaja family evacuate!

Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Nura, I'm a Palestinian-American who had the privilege to travel and receive an education in the US. A privilege not many people, including Palestinians, have. I'm organizing this fundraiser for a family friend, Sa’ed Murtaja, who's facing a living nightmare along with his family and millions of others in Gaza. Sa’ed is a Dabke (traditional Palestinian dance) dancer and was part of the Al-Anqaa dance troupe. 3 of his dance troupe members have been martyred. He’s trying to help support his family by getting access to essential needs like food, water, baby formula, and diapers, and eventually evacuating if we can raise enough. Please help support Sa’ed and his family's survival, find safety, rebuild their lives, and ensure a better future.

Below is a message from Sa’ed:

Hello, I am Saed Murtaja, a 23-year-old facing ethnic cleansing with the rest of my family in Gaza. My home was tragically destroyed, and we lost everything. This catastrophe has not only taken away my possessions but has also separated me from the rest of my family as we got displaced in various parts of the Gaza Strip, and also shattered my future and the life that we had built.

I am reaching out to you, to seek support during this challenging time. Your generosity can make a significant difference in helping us provide basic necessities to survive on a daily basis, and potentially evacuate to safety and rebuild our lives. Every contribution, no matter the size, will contribute to restoring the stability and security that we have lost.

The first $50K will cover myself, my parents (Mahmoud and Amira), my brother (Mohammed), pregnant sister-in-law (Tahany), and their three children (Amira, Yara, and Sila). The remaining $50K will cover the rest of my siblings and their families (children and spouses).

A detailed breakdown of what the funds will cover:

  • Food and water
  • Baby food
  • Diapers
  • Evacuation fees ($5000 per adult, $2500 per child below 16yrs)
  • Post-evacuation (getting back on our feet)

Your support means more than words can express, and I am truly grateful for any assistance you can provide. Together, we can turn this tragedy into an opportunity for a fresh start. Thank you for considering donating and making a positive impact on my journey to rebuild. Your kindness makes a world of difference.

March 3 Update:
Saed's aunt and all of his cousins (10 total) were killed in a bombing.

March 11 Update:
The school-turned-shelter that Saed and his family were staying at was bombed – they miraculously survived but were displaced again and had to relocate. Limited access to internet and intermittent communication.

FAQ:

How will Saed receive the funds?
Saed has connected me with a friend of his in Egypt to whom I will wire the money directly through Western Union. However, to avoid transfer fees/charges, we're aiming to send larger chunks at a time (preferably all at once if possible) so he can receive as much of your donations as possible.
