We Need Your Help, Please. We will update, often. Thank you.

Hello, we are Raven and Louis Maldonado, a chronically ill couple, married for twenty years, and currently living as medical hostages in the state of Connecticut. We are reaching out for support due to the extreme neglect, bias, and abuse we face daily from the medical system and social services in our town and state. We have been repeatedly denied basic medical treatment and assistance, and we are now at a critical point in our lives where we urgently need help to relocate to a state where we can access the care we desperately need.

Both of us suffer from severe, degenerative health conditions, which have worsened over time due to the lack of proper medical support. I, Raven, have Gastro-Paresis, causing significant weight loss and malnutrition, while my husband, Louis, battles Pernicious Anemia and other chronic conditions. Despite being deemed in need of end-of-life care, the state has repeatedly denied us home assistance for basic needs like cooking, cleaning, and transportation to medical appointments. This neglect has left us physically frail and vulnerable, worsening our already fragile health.

As survivors of Early Childhood Complex Familial Trauma, we have experienced a lifetime of neglect and abuse, which continues to this day, not only from the medical community but even from those we once called family. The system that is supposed to care for the disabled has continuously failed us, retraumatizing us both mentally and physically. The discrimination we face in Connecticut’s healthcare system is unbearable, and we fear for our lives if we do not leave soon.

We recently appeared on Channel 12 News, trying to raise awareness about our dire situation, but the interview was heavily edited, and our full story remains untold. (You can view the interview on my Facebook timeline if you'd like to see it.) We are asking for help now because we can no longer endure this on our own. We are planning to move to a neighboring state, where we believe we can finally access the healthcare and support that Connecticut has denied us.

We have spent our lives helping others, but now we are the ones in need of help. We are asking for your support to raise the necessary funds to help us relocate and start fresh in a place where we can survive, thrive, and live with dignity.

Please consider donating and sharing our story. Every little bit helps, and we are deeply grateful for any support you can offer during this critical time.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any help you can provide.

With love and gratitude, ❤️

Raven and Louis Maldonado

  • I am Raven Maldonado, and alongside my husband—and sole caregiver—Louis Maldonado, we issue this unflinching declaration: Connecticut has failed us, and we will no longer sit silently as victims of its cruelty.

For twenty‑one years, we’ve weathered unimaginable hardship—only to find the very systems sworn to protect us inflict the deepest wounds. This is our story, in raw detail, so you know exactly why we fight:

Our Health Has Been Sabotaged
Gastroparesis: My stomach grinds to a halt, leaving me in constant agony, malnourished, and unable to keep down life‑sustaining nutrition.

Pernicious Anemia: Louis’s blood can’t carry oxygen properly; he collapses without warning, yet Connecticut denies him home support.

Lupus SLE: Decades of unchecked autoimmune attacks on my organs—diagnosed only because state officials forcibly hospitalized me, then buried the results.

Atrial Fibrillation (AFIB) and Seizures: My erratic heartbeat and uncontrolled convulsions risk sudden death; still, we’re left to fend for ourselves.

Complex Familial Trauma: Childhood horrors compounded by adult betrayal—mental scars deep enough to shatter any hope of normalcy.

Our Basic Rights, Systematically Stripped Away
Home Care Denied: Too weak to shower, prepare a meal, or even rise from bed—and social services turned us away.

Transportation Blocked: Every missed appointment could be fatal, yet we’re branded “inconvenient,” forced to choose between certain collapse or missed treatment.

Wellness Checks Weaponized: Three state‑sanctioned intrusions into our home—PSYOPS tactics meant to intimidate and silence us—yielded zero evidence of wrongdoing. Instead, they revealed a calculated campaign of bureaucratic violence.

Unsafe Housing: We shiver and strain in a “disabled unit” without ramps, grab bars, or widened doorways—despite our documented needs and explicit ADA mandates.

Political Indifference: Governor and legislators talk sympathy, but their hollow promises evaporate the moment our names are uttered.

Our Battle Plan—and How You Can Arm Us
We will no longer beg; we will mobilize. But first, we need the fundamentals:

Accessible Housing ($8,000)

First month’s rent & security deposit for a fully ADA‑compliant, two‑bedroom apartment in Salem, MA—our sanctuary.

Emergency Transportation ($6,000)

A dependable used vehicle for life‑or‑death medical trips—and the freedom to leave the trap that is Greenwich.

Medical & Daily Support ($3,000)

Home health aides, adaptive equipment, and guaranteed rides, so we’re never stranded in crisis again.

Emotional‑Support Dog ($1,500)

Trauma doesn’t heal itself. A loyal companion can steady our frayed nerves and remind us we’re not alone.

Legal Action Fund ($1,500)

Civil‑rights counsel to catalog every injustice, craft our claims, and launch the class‑action suit we deserve—because no one else must suffer this hell.

Why You Must Act NOW
Our lives hang by a thread. Each day in Greenwich chips away at our strength, our marriage, our hope.

We are holding Connecticut to account. This campaign is the first salvo: we’ll document every violation, broadcast every struggle, and force the politicians to answer for their perfidy.

Your donation is our weapon. Every dollar propels us from victimhood to victory—fueling medical care, legal strategy, and the clean break that will save us.

Your share is our megaphone. If you can’t give, amplify our story. Let Connecticut know the world is watching.

No more empty talk. No more broken promises. We are Raven and Louis Maldonado—survivors, truth‑tellers, warriors. Will you stand with us?

“We refuse to perish in silence. We refuse to be collateral damage. We rise.”

With indomitable fury and unwavering gratitude,
Raven Maldonado
(and Louis Maldonado, my devoted ally and caregiver)
