Rally for Jake: Medical Bills and Income Loss

Hello everyone, I am Jake’s sister Jessica. A lot of people have been asking how they can help Jake and his family out right now, and this would be the most helpful! Jake has been in and out of the hospital for 2 weeks, and was finally diagnosed with a blood clot in his brain. Since Jake and Shelby own their own business, unfortunately when he isn’t working there is no money coming in, there is no PTO for business owners! On top of that, most of his time in the hospital has been without insurance because they were trying to get set up with a new one when this happened. I just wanted to express my absolute gratitude for all of the prayers, well wishes, offers of help, and patience we have received in the last 2 weeks from our friends, family and client (many of whom have become family)!

If I haven't had to reschedule your appointment you may be out of the loop (it's very hard to keep everyone who loves us up to date and keep track of everyone I've talked to). About 2 weeks ago Jake started complaining about a headache and started to develop a speech delay. We took him to the ER and they wrote it off as a migraine. The delayed speech turned into a severe stutter so we went back and again were told that it was still just a crazy migraine. Friday the left side of his body went numb, so we rushed back to the ER. Finally, they diagnosed a blood clot in Jakes brain!

He is being treated and starting to feel better slowly. The doctors are investigating the cause, but no answers yet. There doesn't appear to be any long term damage that would have occurred if it had developed into a stroke!

I will try my best to keep everyone updated to date and we will keep taking all of the prayers and well wishes you all have!!

*And just a reminder to always listen to your body and that you are your biggest advocate! I don't even want to think about where we'd be right now if Jake hadn't been persistent and insisted that it was more than a migraine!
