Rally for His Cancer Surgery Journey

At Christmas 2023, my partner and now husband was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. He has been going through treatments for well over a year, and now we're waiting for insurance to approve surgery. It has been a harsh struggle to get Texas and Oklahoma to agree on it. It has significantly impacted our lives and has affected being able to work due to treatment and doctor's appointments. I've been his full-time carer as well during these times.

We are reaching out to our communities for support and good energy. We've struggled with insurance and will have unexpected costs that aren't covered. Extra wear and tear on our older vehicle, travel costs for going out of state to see the surgeon who will perform the upcoming surgery, unexpected expenses for out-of-state accommodations and food while he will be recovering in the hospital, unexpected childcare expenses, and travel as well.

A week before Christmas 2023, he had this feeling of excruciating pain in his side. We went to urgent care and then were sent to the emergency room. My husband got a CT scan, the doctor came in reluctantly, and we knew something wasn't right. He said we need to see his primary care doctor and get a referral to an oncologist. Luckily, he was seen very quickly by his PC and referred to oncology within the week. My husband has already been through chemo and radiation here where we live. The cancer is located at the top of his pancreas and also has tendrils of veins wrapped around a major artery leading into his pancreas.

We're hoping with surgery the tumor can be removed. We've been dealing with insurance, and things that should be covered probably will not be covered. We have had to travel to Texas from Oklahoma and will have to go two more times until surgery is set. We greatly need help with travel expenses, help for accommodation while he is in the hospital for 10 days, and any other issues that may come up during this journey. We need help in this fight.

My husband is a beacon to those in need and who he has helped. A kind heart and gentle soul. We are fighting because he deserves to be here. We stand strong together and will fight this thing until he is deemed in remission or cured. Please help us in the fight for life. We are humbled and grateful for any help.
