On May 18th, I had what was supposed to be a normal interaction with police that turned into a severely escalated situation, and left me with extensive facial injuries that required immediate surgery and my teeth and jaw to be wired(4 fractures in my face) The initial surgery was $2,800 thanks to a wonderful surgeon not charging me as much.

I received 5 root canals ($7,500) to insure my mouth doesn’t suffer from infection and we can save my teeth. The follow up with the dentist is another $5,000, so I’m already pushing $15,000 in medical debt alone from this.

Unfortunately, I don’t have health insurance. That means every medical bill from hospital visits to surgery, medication, and follow-up care is coming out of pocket. The cost is overwhelming, and without help, I’m not sure how I’ll be able to move forward.

I had to enroll in an intensive outpatient mental health program ($2,000) to address the deeper issues from my CPTSD that were caused by the police in order to function normally and be able to leave my home (which I still struggle with)

It has been extremely hard to find work since this incident, because of the way the media has painted me. One of the headlines (because I made headlines…) seems to suggest that I was the shooter because of the verbiage and improper grammar. I’m innocent and the only thing I did wrong was use my 1st Amendment Right. They’re saying I tripped and fell, they’re saying a bunch of things about me that aren’t true. They won’t release the body cam footage… and I’m pretty sure they’re hiding what they did.
