Raise funds after losing car during Cairns flood

In September last year I moved from Brisbane to Cairns to support my family through my nana's terminal cancer diagnosis.

Come December, the house I lived in in Holloways Beach was flooded.

During the event I quite literally packed a backpack in a panic, grabbed my friends dogs (they were two states away on holiday) and waded out of the yard in knee deep water. I had nowhere to go, thankfully, a neighbour took me in for two nights until the roads reopened. I spent the following two days trying to air out our cars and dragging flood soaked items out onto the curb. As you can imagine, we had no power or running water, it was a sweaty, stinky nightmare.

Unfortunately, my trustworthy car was a total loss, which is why I am sharing this story.

I am hoping to raise funds to take the financial pressure off purchasing a new car during this unexpected situation.

I feel guilty reaching out as I know that so many people lost so much.
