Don protégé
Many of you know my journey so far on a path to get a second kidney transplant. Despite many medical detours I have soldiered on with amazing love and prayer support. There is an old saying that "God never gives us more than we can handle" but my recent news of needing 5 weeks radiation treatment 5 times a week has overwhelmed me.
Many of the side effects are what I am already experiencing on dialysis - fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite- to name only a few. Living alone is already a challenge but will need more help during radiation.
I have a volunteer who can come but I need to cover airfare and since I have no car, would rent a vehicle while they are here.
In addition, my bed is over 12 years old and have been advised by my nurse practitioner that I should have an adjustable hospital bed, especially in my weakened state. After radiation treatment I can expect it to take several weeks to recover.
There is so much need in the world, I am humbled to be asking for help, but am overwhelmed by what is ahead for me.
This will delay my getting a green light for my living donor kidney transplant by a month or two. Still hoping that April will bring me the good news of finding a donor and having the transplant surgery.
Thank you for any assistance possible.
