As many of you know, about 1 year ago I donated a portion of my liver to someone who needed a new liver. My wife, Kate, is also a living liver and kidney donor. Growing up outside of NY and working in Manhattan, I have always wanted to run the NYC Marathon. While Kate had a qualifying time and got in, my only chance was through the lottery (which didn't happen) or through a charity.
LiveOnNY is a nonprofit organization committed to helping New York live on through organ and tissue donation and caring for the families touched by donation.
I am excited to be able to raise money for something I am passionate about. So many people die waiting for organs and LiveOnNY works to do the following:
- Facilitating lifesaving organ donations
- Caring For Donor Families
- Caring for the families of the selfless donors who give the gift of life
- Educating the community about the power of donation
- Advocating on behalf of those who are waiting for a transplant
