Rachel's Surgical Sabbatical
Don protégé
Anyone who knows Rachel knows she is the most selfless, kind, empathic soul to walk the earth. When my house burned down, she moved with us to to every temporary place we lived, to hold my hand and hug me through the grief of losing my dogs, and was my stand-in brain to deal with all the exhausting logistics. When my husband was deployed and I had to have major surgery, she cancelled all her clients, saying she’d be with me until she wasn’t; sleeping in my room on a blow up mattress so she could bring me the baby each time he needed to nurse. And then when our family moved to Europe, she was the one on the flights with my 4 boys and me. I could go on and on about this amazing woman who has been my soul sister for 30 years, but y’all know…
Many of you have been touched by her heart in the same ways I have. You sit in her chair and she listens to you with absolute attention and compassion. She feels your feelings. Your woes are her woes. Not just for that appointment time, but until forever. She’s extended her heart and generosity to us, and now I hope we can extend ours to her.
As most of you know, years of doing what she does so well has hurt her body to the point that she needs surgery to fix it. This will put her out of work for the length of her recovery. And being that she is a badass small business owner, this doesn’t just affect her. She still has to pay the bills to keep her salon running. She still has to pay her amazing right hand woman, Kristie. She still has her own personal bills that don’t pause. And then there will be the medical bills.
With no income.
These things sneak up on us, even if we are lucky enough to have something tucked away for a rainy day. If we aren’t fortunate enough to have that safety net, community can help.
WE can help.
We can ease this time for her. I know times are tight for everyone. But any amount will help. And if you aren’t able to give, sharing this fundraiser with others is a gift too. And perhaps you’d like to share a story here about how she’s touched your life. ♥️
Let’s surround this wonderful human with love in ways she can really feel!!
The lives she’s touched are so numerous. I think we can really show up in droves for our Rachel.
All my gratitude,
Marnie
