On March 14, 2019 our mother went into cardiac arrest and was found unresponsive between 12:44pm when she last text me about needing to buy groceries on Saturday and 1:09pm when Linda the apartment manager called me, that the ambulance was pulling up. We know she felt something in those last moments before her heart stopped because she screamed to her 5yr old great grandson, “Matthew wake up!” He saw her fall back into the couch gasping for air then ran outside to the neighbor crying, “something is wrong with my Mimo!”
She is not breathing on her own, her kidneys are shutting down, brain activity that was showing promise on Friday has decreased tremendously and she is still in a vegetative state without sedation. We are now facing this unexpected and hardest decision of our lives to remove the breathing tube tomorrow under Palliative care and In House Hospice to allow her to be as comfortable as possible.
Mimo as she is known and fiercely loved by her grandchildren and great grandchildren expressed a genuine unconditional love for them all as they did her. We all loved and cherished her feisty spirit, generosity, quirky love for anything Elvis no matter how outrageous and her love for Family.
Mom this is not good bye...its ”see you later alligator.”
We must turn to family and friends for their understanding that with their help and support we can fulfill our mothers wishes.
This Go-Fund me has been set up by the children of Rachel Coy:
Monica Vasquez, JB Portillo and Rebecca Coy-Shaw. As you can imagine, this was completely unexpected and left our family in shock and financially unprepared. We have established an account which 100% of those funds will be used for the expenses associated with the burial cremation, and memorial reception.
