"Closing Doors" is a musical about liberation, validation, and appreciation of one's self through the lens of the “Me Too” movement and online dating trend.
Alex, a budding singer/songwriter, and Guy, a fellow musician, meet the way many young couples do today - through an online dating app. Guy seems to be the perfect person. He’s smart, talented, and romantic. But what devastating truth hides beneath this façade of musical dreams? Will Alex have the courage to face her fear and close the door Guy keeps opening?
"Closing Doors" was selected as one of the four shows out of 36 submissions to be showcased at the Atlanta Musical Theatre Festival.
While the festival provides a facility and sound and lighting equipment. The show is seeking funds to pay for the creative team ie. actors, directors, band, stage manager, arrangers, copyists, facility fees for rehearsal spaces, and supplies (notebooks, paper, etc). Needed throughout the show.
This musical has been a cathartic project for Ali, since she left her own situation December of 2016. Since then, she has taken what has happened to her and created a form of art to tell of her experience in the hopes that it helps the world understand the stages of domestic abuse and to help others have the courage to leave.
This will be the world premiere of this show, and any donation is greatly appreciated.
The show will be August 6 at the Theatrical Outfit in Atlanta, Georgia.
