Quint's Quest

YOU can help Quint on his Quest to WALK!

Hi Friends,

We want to first thank y’all for being a part of Quint’s and our support system and village! We appreciate you more than you’ll ever know. We are so thankful for how well he is doing despite his many health/developmental hurdles, and we want to continue to give Quint every opportunity to thrive, just as you do for your kids.

Quint has been working so hard at getting stronger. Because of that, he has physically qualified for a potentially LIFE CHANGING opportunity to get a Trexo Home robotic gait trainer! The Trexo Home consists of two robotic legs attached to his gait trainer (walker). These legs attach to Q’s legs and can provide variable powered assistance to help with initiating and stepping in a physiological gait pattern. Because of the support and robot-assisted walking, Quint will have many opportunities to practice walking skills and be out of his wheelchair/stroller. He can ACTIVELY join us on family walks around the neighborhood with his sisters! As Quint progresses, the powered support of the robot can be lowered, and weight bearing can be increased, further improving overall muscle strength and control. The Trexo Home is also adjustable for growth, ensuring long-term support as Quint grows.

But we need YOUR help. We have spent a couple of months submitting the request for the Trexo to insurance with no luck. Our Trexo rep told us it has never been funded through insurance. The cost to own the Trexo is $39,564. We have already paid a down payment of $1000, so we need another $38,564. We have chosen the payment plan, so we won’t owe it all up front, but anything you can give would be tremendous support! Please help us give Quint this chance at independence (and to run away from his sisters, LOL).

Thanks again for your continued care of our family – we love y’all!

P.S. Below are some of the other benefits the Trexo provides:

*Being upright and mobile improves respiration (Q has a weakened respiratory system due to Kleefstra).
*Improves digestion, circulation, and bowel/bladder function (good for his heart health and could potentially relieve his chronic constipation!).
*As Quint grows larger and heavier (which is a good thing!), manual walking assistance on a gait-trainer (which we do 30 mins every day) becomes more difficult, increasing the risk of back injuries/strains on us. He can get about 70 steps in during this manual time, whereas with the Trexo, he can get north of 500 steps!
*Because he can take so many more steps, he can build muscle quicker and will sleep better (just like we do after a workout!).
*The Trexo provides the opportunity for robot-assisted stretching, joint ROM, and bone development.
*When children are at eye level with their peers, their social, emotional, and phycological development is enhanced – all necessary for the growth of a well-rounded and healthy child. Inclusion with peers is a profound motivator for movement. We have already seen him improve in multiple developmental areas with the sisters around!
*The list goes on – reach out to Ashley if you’d like the data studies, Quint’s progress during his in-clinic trials, or more info!
