Hello Everyone, I’m reaching out to you because a group of us has decided to start a GoFundMe and help contribute to the Quigley family.
My sister, Jackie, is one of the strongest people I know and has been working through a lot both financially and emotionally this year.
Jason and Jackie Quigley discovered that their son, Reed (9), has a rare form of epilepsy that is not responding to medication. Reed was enrolled into a program to determine what part of the seizures are occurring in and to determine if brain surgery will be necessary. They are still awaiting news on next steps for Reed but must make frequent trips to Pittsburgh from Erie for appointments while taking time off work to be supportive.
Jackie and Jason also found out they were pregnant this year with their first baby girl, Juniper. About halfway through the pregnancy, Jackie discovered she had an autoimmune disorder that was causing little Juniper complications. The doctors discovered June's heart rate was slow and she would be born with a complete heart block that would require a pacemaker soon after birth. From there on, Jackie was assigned a new doctor in Pittsburgh, which she traveled to weekly, to ensure they could check June's progress. Jackie was provided with medications via IV's (at about $20K per IV) for her autoimmune disorder during the pregnancy and those charges are currently not being covered by the insurance company.
Baby Juniper was born on February 19th weighing about 4lbs. June is completely precious but as they knew, she was born and needs some help. June spent 9 days in the NICU before she was transferred to the CICU and she is now awaiting a pacemaker which may be prolonged until she reaches 11 lbs if possible. Jackie is doing her best being away from her boys as she continues to stay with June in the CICU. Jason is also continuing to support both Jackie and her boys by making frequent trips to Pittsburgh while taking care of the family at home in Erie and working a full-time job.
