Hope for Hempel
Spende geschützt
Everyone who knows Michelle, can honestly say she is the most resilient person they know! She battles Type 1 diabetes every day with a smile, went through a kidney transplant in 2008, and embarked on her amputee journey in 2018 when she had to have her leg amputated to save her life. After fighting many foot/leg infections in the last four years, Michelle miraculously survived a life-threatening infection in January. Her recovery was going to include numerous surgeries and many months in her wheelchair for her foot/leg to heal with no promise that this was going to be her last infection. Last week, she made the brave decision to have her other leg amputated because she didn't want to spend the rest of her life in hospitals and wheelchairs trying to save her leg. She had surgery on February 13th and started the next chapter of her journey as a double amputee. She is at peace, excited for the next thing, and joyful as always! Let's come together to help her with her recovery and rehabilitation!
All funds will help with:
1. Wage loss as Michelle won't be able to teach for the rest of the year.
2. Bathroom modifications since it is not wheelchair accessible.
3. A new wheelchair since her current one has high miles:)
Thank you for being a blessing to the Hempel family!!
