On May 31, 2025, our beloved Rodrigo Reyna-Sanchez tragically lost his life while working to clear an active slide on Highway 36. He was doing what he had always done — serving and protecting others. “Rigo” or “Rod” dedicated his life to helping people, both in his career and in his everyday actions. Whether in uniform or not, he showed up with courage, heart, and an unwavering sense of duty to his community.
Rigo was truly one-of-a-kind. He had a quick wit, a sharp sense of humor, and was always ready with a clever comeback. He told it like it was — always real, never fake — but somehow knew exactly when to show warmth and compassion. His personality was unforgettable, and his presence brought strength, safety, and comfort to those around him.
In 2021, Rigo and Michelle experienced the heartbreaking loss in utero at 32+ weeks of their baby girl, Faith, due to a full diagnosis of Trisomy 18. While our hearts ache immensely with his passing, we find some peace knowing that Rigo and Faith are now reunited.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Michelle, his children, and a large, close-knit family who will miss him deeply. More than anything, Rigo was a protector — of his family, his friends, and countless others he served throughout his many years as a police officer and sergeant. He lived with honor, loved fiercely, and left an impact that will never, ever fade.
This GoFundMe has been created to support Rigo’s family during this incredibly difficult time. Any contribution, or prayers, are deeply appreciated as we honor and remember the life of an extraordinary man.
