Early on the morning of March 13, 2017, Ken Soo merily skipped his way to the Chevy Astro van he'd purchased not two weeks ago. This vehicle would be his home for the next year+. He daydreamed about all the things he would install: wood flooring, cabinets, water tank, stove and a dual slice robotic toaster he would use to warm up cliff bars before his morning climbs. Ken turned the corner and the sight of his brown Astro gleaming in the distance warmed the very cockles of his heart. However as he approached he sensed something was very wrong. Half of his van was twisted up over the curb, and pieces of his tail light were scattered across the cement. He swallowed the lump in his throat and moved in to investigate. As he made his way around to the road side of the car, his heart sunk. Someone had careened into his van sometime during the night, plowing it onto the curb and dislodging the driveshaft from the transmission and bending the rear axle beyond repair . The van was totaled, and so were Ken's hopes and dreams.

Ken had no collision insurance to cover such a hit and run. Ken was hoping to leave LA by mid april in his new van and make his way back up to Mazama, Washington where he'd be working again at outward bounds for the summer season. After talking to him today (3/15/17), Ken still plans to leave LA mid april in his old Sonata. He can't afford to buy another van and also now can't sell his car. On top of that, he was planning on starting his van life in April, which means now he'll have to find a place to rent the next month.
I'm hoping to raise and SURPISE Ken (SO DON'T TELL HIM) with the $3500 he spent and lost on the van, so that hopefully he'll have time to find and buy another by mid april. $3500 was a really good price, and hopefully he'll be able to find another at similar value, but the more we raise, the more buying options he'll have, and the more decked out his van can be. Wouldn't we all want Ken to have a decked out van? Help me make his dreams come true once more after they were dashed by an inconsiderate stranger.
Just look at how happy he was with his van before it died

Thanks for the support,
Yours truly,
Vincent Wu + Fei Zang
