Hi im Rob, and in January 2022 I suffered a serious heart attack which almost resulted in me needing to be defibrillated at the scene, however this was needed whilst in hospital as I suffered an arrest after having my procedure done. Having suffered a heart attack and being told that there was defibrillator ready to be used on me if needed was a massive scare and made me realise that there arent enough of these available. The need for this piece of equipment is massive as it is a lifesaver; Defibrialtion within 3-5 minutes of collapse can produce survival rates of up to 50-70. At present in the UK fewer than 2% of people who suffer cardiac arrest have an Automated External Defibrilator deployed before the ambluance arrives. Without the AED each minute of delay reduces the probability of survival to hospital discharge by 10%.
