Desde la Fundación FELL (Fundación Española Lucha contra la Leucemia) y la Fundación FANO (Fundación Albergue para Niños Oncológicos) de Guayaquil (Ecuador), trabajamos sobre el terreno para dotar de un espacio pre-hospitalario y post-hospitalario digno, para aquellos niños que reciben tratamiento contra el cáncer en Guayaquil llegados de todas las provincias de Ecuador. En este albergue, aún inacabado, los niños y sus madres, de procedencia humilde y sin recursos, encuentran un improvisado hogar que les permite albergar la esperanza de una cura para los pequeños. Aquí se alojan por no poder pagar la estancia mínima básica para poder recibir sus tratamientos en el hospital correspondiente.
El funcionamiento del albergue sólo cuenta con las donaciones desinteresadas que provienen de simpatizantes y de empresas colaboradoras con responsabilidad social; dichas aportaciones novson sólo económicas, sino también en especie, permitiendo a duras penas el logro de los objetivos marcados. El albergue está gestionado por voluntarios ecuatorianos e internacionales, con el apoyo de las propias madres de los niños enfermos que en él se alojan.
La situación hospitalaria en Ecuador es muy precaria, agravada estas últimas semanas por la pandemia del COVID-19. El país, y concretamente la provincia de Guayas, donde se encuentra Guayaquil, es una de las zonas más afectada por la infección del Coronavirus de toda Iberoamérica.
Los servicios médicos y funerarios están desbordados lo que motiva que los cadáveres se encuentren tirados por las calles esperando una improbable retirada; sin medidas preventivas en los hospitales, se corre un alto riesgo de contagio al acudir a atención básica. A esto de le suma un toque de queda con aislamiento total que ha motivado que millones de personas no tengan, no sólo un ingreso precario, sino en muchas ocasiones tampoco nada que comer.
¡Comer o contagiarse! Esa es la elección de muchas familias hoy en Ecuador.
Las voluntarias y mamás del Albergue FANO en Guayaquil, estamos intentando crear un mínimo remanso de seguridad para los niños a los que atendemos. Un lugar donde dormir, un plato de comida, un lugar seguro donde refugiarse mientras esperan su tratamiento contra el cáncer.
Te pedimos colaboración para que podamos seguir repartiendo sonrisas cada día, para poder traer los víveres, afrontar sus costosos tratamientos y medicinas. Asi podemos evitar un contagio vírico que sería fatal para nuestros pequeños. Nuestro objetivo es cambiar la terrible elección presente hoy en Guayaquil.

From the FELL Foundation (Spanish Foundation Fight Against Leukemia) and the FANO Foundation (Shelter Foundation for Oncology Children) in Guayaquil (Ecuador), we work on the ground to provide a decent pre-hospital and post-hospital space for those children coming from all the provinces of Ecuador who are receiving cancer treatment in Guayaquil hospitals. In this still unfinished lodging, children and their mothers of a humble background with little resources, find an unexpected home that allows them to harbor the hope of a cure for their little ones. Here they stay for not being able to pay the basic minimum stay in order to receive their treatments in the corresponding hospital.
The operation of the shelter only counts on the selflessly help and contribution of the sympathizers and supporting companies under social responsibility; both with donations of goods and economic support. The shelter is run by international volunteers with the help of the resident children's mothers.
The hospital situation in Ecuador is very precarious, aggravated in recent weeks by the COVID-19 pandemic. The country, and specifically the province of Guayas, where Guayaquil is located, is one of the areas most affected by the Coronavirus infection in all Latin America. The medical and funeral services are overwhelmed, which causes the corpses to be thrown through the streets waiting for an improbable withdrawal; without preventive measures in hospitals, there is a high risk of contagion when going to basic care. To this is added a curfew with total isolation that has motivated millions of people not to have, not only a precarious income, but often nothing to eat.
Eat or catch yourself! That is the choice of many families today in Ecuador.
The volunteers and mothers of the FANO Hostel in Guayaquil, we all are trying to create a minimum haven of security for the children we serve. A place to sleep, a plate of food, a safe place to retreat to while waiting for their cancer treatment.
We ask you to collaborate so that we can continue distributing smiles every day, being
to be able to bring groceries, face their expensive treatments and medicines. This way we can avoiding a viral contagion that could be fatal for our little ones. Our goal is to change the terrible choice presents today in Guayaquil.
Eat and heal! That is our choice for all of them. Is it too much to ask for?
