Preserve the SP 2395 chair car

Tax deductible
The Friends of the 4449 are a fully volunteer organization dedicated to the repair and maintenance of the SP 4449 and Southern Pacific passenger related equipment.   We are acquiring the 2395 'Stanislaus' to add to our rolling stock for use at the Oregon Rail Heritage Center and future excursions.  The 2395 coach is in good original condition and is a great candidate for preservation.

2395 History:

·         Built in 1949 for the Shasta Daylight consist

·         1973  Sold to Amtrak (renumbered 7511)

·         1976  Sold to Rail Service Industries in Mira Loma, CA. This car was 1 of 7 DAYLIGHT coaches that were later acquired by the Sierra Western RR Company. (renumbered 511)

·         1981, 1984  Pulled by the SP4449 for excursions to Sacramento, CA. and New Orleans, LA.

·         1982-1983  Leased to the McCloud River RR for use with #25, and after washouts on the former NWP, the cars were stranded up and down the line, with 4 of them, including the #511, located in Willits.  Sometime in the 2000's, 3 of these 4 cars were damaged by a fire set by vandals.  The only car which was not damaged was the #511.

·         2008-Current   Owned by Jon Clark

Goals:

·         Preservation

·         Has original interior

·         Brings us closer to a full Daylight consist
