Postpartum Recovery Fund

summary (UPDATED 11/10):

about $1800 of this is for past due bills. the rest is to cover groceries, upcoming bills (postpartum), and possible car repairs. car is essential to get to OB appointments and both it, and food, is essential for survival, bills are already past due. if i raise the full amount requested i will be able to rest after having this baby for about two months. i lowered my goal from $10k to $7k because I was able to negotiate some payment plans and pick up some extra income that helped this past month. however, my current gig will end in January, so I'm preparing for February (and beyond, I guess). Georgia cut our food stamps a couple of months ago. (I already reapplied but haven't been approved yet.)

i'm due to give birth anywhere between Nov 15th-Dec 15th (2022).

y'all know me, i'm thotscholar from Twitter. i mostly write/blog now, but i'm also an artist (i draw) and i manage my own website and substack, just small survivalist entrepreneur stuff. i am currently pregnant, i'm due during Saggitarius season. i have been a lot sicker than i usually am during pregnancy, and that has impacted my ability to work and take on extra gigs. right now i have one paying contract gig besides my writing, and i am working on a large project that is about 5-6 years in the making but is almost finished. i function as editor, cover designed, writer/artist, website manager, gig worker, accountant, and more, by myself.

i created this fund to ensure my family's survival because i am unable to continue working at the same pace after giving birth. we have been barely surviving this past year after dealing with my mother's abusive attempt to make me and my family homeless. we were homeless and living at a hotel for about a month, minus a few weeks where we stayed with my partner's family in NYC. i now have no contact with most of my family and i have no one to lean on or borrow this money from. my partner's disability doesn't cover all of the bills, so i need help to close the gap and do some minor to moderate car repairs.

the car repairs are for an oil pan/oil leak (about $500+) and a radiator fan (about $600+). our engine keeps overheating because of these defects in this lemon car we were sold, and i would rather not have to get a whole new car (or engine). the car is absolutely essential to our survival. public transportation is ass here, there's barely any sidewalks, and we live in a maternity health care desert--which means i have to go to Athens or ATL for my OB appointments every two weeks.

thank in advance to anyone who shares or donates. this fund is cut down to the absolute bare minimum that is needed to get us through 2-4 months after i give birth. my gig ends in January, so i need to be able to get through December-March. even raising half of it will help tremendously. we are already behind on two major bills--cell phone ($530 past due) and GEICO car insurance ($145/month). so i adjusted the amount to account for that.
