On April 6, 2025, 23-year-old Gabriel Fletcher Schmaltz made the decision to end his own life.

Gabe was inspiring to be a Blacksmith or a Brew Master. He loved Anime, D and D, gaming on his PC with his friends, Magic: The Gathering, and the color purple. Gabe loved animals as much as animals loved him. He had so many friends who gave him the nickname "Huggy Bear". He was so loved by everyone, and he had such a big loving heart that when he loved, he loved hard. Gabe had plans to visit New York as it was his dream to go there.

Gabe’s parents (Greg and Brandy) and his brother (Elijah Christian) are left devastated! I’m asking for help for them with all the funeral arrangements and the transfer of him to bring him home to his family from where he lived in Mt Pleasant. The Schmaltz family is taking time off work, and I don’t want them to have more to worry about like paying the bills. I want them to be able to take the appropriate time off to grieve without the added stress.
