Please, Help Somni Get Palliative Care and Comfort
Donativo protegido
Please help us give our Somni treatment and end of life care? She has just been diagnosed with large cell lymphoma. The prognosis is not good.
It’s in a bad location, on her neck, and has already grown large enough to effect her swallowing and breathing. Surgery and treatment to remove this will cost an astronomical amount of 15,000.00.
We don’t expect to raise enough to pay for her surgery. We also don’t know if we would even want to put her through the surgery.
Test results won’t be in for a few more days, and it’s possible that is has spread beyond the neck area. We have been told even with the surgery, there is no cure. And it may come back, and rapidly. Surgery would just be buying us more time with her, and we feel that may be selfish on our part to put her through all of that.
We live month-to-month on our income, and just spent around $1,300 of our rent money to have her treated over night last night, and have started her on some antibiotics and steroids. We are opting for a Palliative Care plan as opposed to a more aggressive plan of surgery and chemotherapy, partly because we could never afford the surgery and chemotherapy, and also partly because we wouldn’t want to put her through all of that.
We want her to be ok as long as she can until she’s no longer ok. Then we will be pursuing end of life care, including euthanasia and cremation, all things we have absolutely no money to pay for.
We are hoping to be fortunate enough to hopefully give her a few rounds of medical treatments with the antibiotics and steroids, and a consultation with an oncologist to see if there’s anything else we can do within our means to give her as many weeks or hopefully months with her before she begins to really suffer.
I love her so much more than anything in the world. I love her more than my own life. Typing all of this is extremely difficult and our little family, my husband, our son and I have all been hopelessly crying since she was diagnosed last night.
Veterinary care is very expensive, and especially expensive for serious and terminal illnesses. Again, we aren’t expecting to raise enough for an Oncologist, surgery and chemotherapy. We’re only hoping to raise enough to get her some medication and a few more weeks, hopefully months and for her end of life care such as euthanasia and cremation.
If you can’t help, believe us, we completely understand as we live paycheck to paycheck ourselves so please don’t feel bad if you can’t, we still love you regardless. If you can help, it would mean everything to us and we would be eternally grateful to you, forever. In the event she passes before any funds are used, we will be more than willing and sure to return any unused funds!
Thank you, and love you from the bottom of our hearts.
Update: 08/30/2024 I’ve reduced the amount we’re trying to raise to cover Somni’s vet care, because we’ve opted to just ask for help with the bills that we’ve already paid totaling $1,500 because we are not perusing any further conventional veterinary care, and are not considering euthanasia and cremation costs at this moment.
We instead will be going a holistic route that has totaled around $200 so far.
I immediately got a phone call less than 10 minutes after that call from the vet with great news that I’ve got more work opportunities coming up on the horizon. So I’m hopeful if Somni needs any more care that I will be able to afford it.
I appreciate all of your love and support to Somni, you mean everything to us.
