Please Help Nikolai

Many of my friends know my sister Jan, her husband, son and daughter came from South Carolina to spend Christmas with our family. Minutes after we gathered on December 23rd, we found my 16 year old nephew unresponsive in the bathroom. We have since found that due to a genetic heart defect that he had suffered cardiac arrest. He has been in the ICU at Bronson for the last 10 days on life support and today they have decided to transport him to U of M for immediate heart surgery. There are many concerns that we are dealing with, we do not know the severity of brain damage that was caused due to the lack of blood flow when they had to resuscitate him multiple times and we are still concerned with how bad his heart is. The doctors have told us no matter what happens, there is an extremely long road ahead. The hardest part is my sister and brother-in-law live in South Carolina and are having to find housing as well as not working. They are both contracted employees, therefore when they do not work, they do not get paid. These funds will help with housing, travel, medical bills, the flight cost to transport Nikolai to U of M.
