Kiara's Journey to Getting a Service Dog For Her Severe Medical Conditions

Hi, my name is Annette Centrone, thank you for taking a moment to read my daughter’s story. I'm raising funds for my 18-year-old daughter Kiara Centrone so we can purchase a Medical Service Dog for her.

Kiara is a very loving young lady with many goals but she has an overwhelming life daily that stops her from achieving her goals.

She is unable to work nor study due to severe painful medical conditions.

The pain affects Kiara's everyday life and has caused a lot of Stress, Anxiety, Depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Kiara's medical conditions are not curable and she will need ongoing surgery and procedures.

She will have her painful illnesses for the rest of her life.

It has been very difficult for myself and family to watch Kiara lose herself to illnesses.

With the help of donations we will be able to improve Kiara’s everyday quality of life.

A Service Dog could change everything!

This isn’t just about getting a dog. Providing Kiara with a medical companion will help her in social outings, through painful flare ups, hospital appointments and through her ongoing anxiety.

Pain Flare-Up Detection:

Service dogs can be trained to detect signs of a pain flare-up, such as changes in posture or breathing, and alert the handler or others.

Emergency Assistance:

Trained to call for help or alert others in case of a medical emergency.

Balance and Stability:

Can be trained to provide balance and stability, especially during periods of pain or weakness.

Distraction:

Trained to help distract from pain and other negative sensations.

Psychiatric Support:

Service dogs can be trained to assist with psychiatric conditions like anxiety, panic attacks, and post-traumatic stress disorder PTSD, helping to manage symptoms and improve overall well-being.

Medication Reminders:

Service dogs can be trained to alert their handler when it's time to take medication.

Medical Service Dogs are trained to perform specific tasks that directly

assist people with everyday living and providing individualised

support.

We are determined to make this happen for Kiara, but we need your help.
