Please Help Keep Gabby in a Safe, Loving Home

Every child deserves a safe, stable and nurturing home. For the first five years of her life, Gabby was neglected; growing up in a house of addiction, abuse and mental illness. She has special needs that were never addressed and witnessed behavior that no child should have to experience. She was often left to take care of herself, despite not having the skills to do so and her educational and emotional development was stunted by the indifference of her parents and caretakers.

 

For the past year, Gabby has been thriving under the care of her uncle, aunt and cousin, who have assumed her guardianship and taken care of her in a healthy, loving household. Her attendance and grades in school have improved. She is eating balanced, nutritious meals every day (although she still enjoys going for ice cream and baking cookies) and has fun playing board games with Aunt Barbara, Uncle PJ and Cousin Dani.

 

For the first time in her life, Gabby has had regular check-ups with the dentist and doctor and has been working with a team of child specialists to overcome her past trauma and address her special needs. She is overcoming a past that should never have happened and living a life that allows her to laugh, play and grow up like the other children in her class.

 

Assuming the responsibility of raising a child has been expensive. The cost of Gabby's medical care and mental health issues, along with clean clothes, toys and her own room has been financially stressful and now, there are high-priced legal bills that have accumulated for assuming her guardianship, with many more to come.
