Gary Kohlhauser is need of help .   Gary has been a resident of Birch Island ,Clearwater since 1970.  He is regularly seen riding his bike and mowing his neighbours lawns to help fill the day.    

      Gary is a typical bush guy,  he lives fairly simply these days after years of battling several illnesses that have depleted what pensions he had to support himself in his later years .   He now supports himself solely on a meger Canadian pension.  As we all know too well it’s not enough to support anyone in a healthy manner. 

         Gary went missing in the neighbourhood a few weeks ago and after some digging around a few of us locals have found him .   He is very ill in Royal Inland hospital and had undergone a surgery that resulted in amputation of a portion of his foot . 

        This is where the help comes in ..   Gary is a happy guy,  however he spends the majority of the spring , summer collecting wood for the next winter .   You see , his house isn’t outfitted with heat and he can’t afford to buy wood so he does the work himself.   After some investigating it has also come to attention that because of his meger income on pension he has been surviving with out hot water for 3 years now ( a shock to us too ). We had no clue either !! 

     Our hope is to raise enough money to supply a heat source this winter ( cords of wood , oil etc ). A hot water tank and installation so he is at least is able to clean his wounds and get back a foundation of life to start looking after himself properly .   Groceries for the winter ,   No one can get back to health eating hotdogs and kraft dinner daily because that’s all he can afford 

      Any help is appreciated.  A few of us will supply labour and help Gary with any physical help he needs while healing from his amputation.
