My name is Dotti. I am estimated to be 11 years old when I was rescued a few years back from my loving owner Amanda.
I used to have a home, even though it was not the greatest. I wasn’t looked after and some of my new friends wonder what happened to me in my early days there.
I soon found myself living on the streets, alone and hungry, and I was even in pain. I was afraid of people because I wasn’t sure if they might hurt me even more!
Now I know that every human won’t hurt me. I was picked up by a volunteer from Cat Chance and given some great food and a really warm home to live in! I was still hurting but I didn’t know how to tell them.
I was taken to the vet and after everyone assuming I was pregnant they learned that I only had a large belly because I was full of worms! It’s tough living outside! They fixed me up and I was given a rabies shot as well. It was assumed that I was already spayed due to my age and not being pregnant but my new friends watched carefully for the next couple of weeks.
I howled. I howled at night. I woke up my new friends . I felt terrible but I had to tell them!
My friends took me to the vet. They sedated me and shaved my belly to discover a blue scar which would indicate that I was spayed. So, it couldn’t be that I was in heat! I was sent home to howl more. My friends tried to choose how to spend money wisely on me, how to figure out what could be wrong!
I was ready to have bloodwork done but there was some suspicion about there being a possible complication with my spay years ago.
I went back in for surgery that week and it turns out I was not spayed. My ovaries were covered in cists and I also had a pellet in me.
Yes, I had even been shot at some point in my life. I didn’t know how to tell my new friends about that. I have lived in pain and heartbreak for a long time.
What I need help with is to get Miss Dotti x-rays to see how many more pellets are still inside her. There is a spot ontop of her head that concerns me. Looks like it could very well be a pellet wanting to come out. She scratches at it all the time. She is also missing most of her teeth. Her last canine tooth needs to be pulled. I'm a single mom who could use some help so I can continue to give Miss Dotti the comfort she deserves. Thank you for ur time
Please, spay your kitties. Please don’t give unfixed kittens away. Take us to a rescue or the Humane Society. Spay and neuter your strays. Support rescues who spay and neuter strays and feral cats.
