Pixel's orthopaedic surgery after a fox attack
Donation protected
My name is Sarah and sadly, my cat Pixel (age 4) was attacked by a dog or fox on 15th August late in the evening and left with open wounds on her legs and a broken elbow. She made it back home somehow at around 11:30pm, bleeding and in shock, and has been unable to walk since.
I took her to the vets in the morning but unfortunately the wounds were not just superficial, and alongside cleaning and stitching the wounds on her back leg, an X-ray showed that the front leg requires orthopaedic surgery to repair.
The vet has quoted £4800 for the operation to reattach the tendons on her front leg elbow, and includes follow-up medication and X-ray. I have already paid £500 for the initial appointment and treatment of the wound on her back leg. The alternative to this surgery is an amputation of the front leg. Pixel loves exploring outside and will be unable to do this as effectively (or be able to explore as far) on 3 legs so I am relulctant to go down this route because I believe her quality of life will be reduced.
I've never done a gofundme page before and hate the thought of asking for financial support but the amount quoted is far more than I thought. Whilst I know times are hard right now, if you can spare anything, it would be greatly appreciated. If I can get anywhere close to the amount needed, she will be able to have the surgery early next week.
Huge thanks in advance.
