Phoebe’s Emergency ICU Costs

Unfortunately Phoebe passed from unexpected complications despite the best efforts of the 
vets, criticalists, and entire team at the
veterinary hospital. Every effort was made, and everything that could be done to
give her a chance was done, but unfortunately
it was her time to pass. She will forever be in our hearts and souls. ❤️

Phoebe’s pancreatitis attack was severe and unexpected. Shes a little baby, at 2 years old and the sweetest angel with a pure, loving soul. She’s been on a low fat and healthy home cooked diet for over a year so the acute pancreatitis was extremely unexpected. It’s one of the most severe cases, as it is necrotizing and the secondary systemic complications have been making treatment very difficult. 

She is being kept in the ICU and I believe she has a fighting chance, given that I can keep her there until her body becomes strong enough to survive through surgery. She will need it to remove the mass onher pancreas and if she is going to make it, it will bea long uphill journey. 

So far, she has been undergoing aggressive management just to keep her stable. Fluid therapy, plasma transfusions, appetite inducers and promotility drugs just to name a few, have all been administered to her. Her white blood cell counts have been very low so she may need additional plasma transfusions which are so costly. She currently has a feeding tube through her nose (since it waslowest risk) and she will hopefully begin to regain some strength. The criticalists and vets believeshe has a fighting chance still and we firmly believe so as well. Her improvements have happened more slowly than expected, but any improvement is better than none.
