Hello! We are People4People LA, an organization founded on the principles of mutual aid created to meet the urgent needs of the community due to Covid-19 pandemic. As a mutual aid group, we strive to build a people-powered network in which we can rely on each other for assistance and support. We have a growing group of volunteers dedicated to delivering groceries and medical supplies to immunocompromised, disabled, and elderly folks in the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley areas. We center Black, working class, and POC communities within that group, but our hotlines are open to anyone that are in need.
People4People LA was created in March 2020 following the lack of an adequate government response during the Covid-19 crisis. Since the creation of People4People LA, we have assisted close to 1,000 families and community organizers in Los Angeles. We recognize the ways that our nation-state has systematically ignored the needs of the most vulnerable in our communities, and the Covid-19 crisis has only deepened economic, racial, social inequalities, disproportionately affecting Black people, POC, and working class people.
All funds raised will be used to purchase any groceries, medication, or any other essential items that is requested from community members. We will also be purchasing sleeping bags, socks, and other supplies to support our houseless communities as we approach the colder months. Support would be greatly appreciated as all funds raised here will be redistributed to our community. We will be using funds as needed, the more money raised means the more community members we are able to help!
If you are interested in being a runner for us, fill out this form tinyurl.com/p4pla and we can let you know when there is a request in your area needed to be fulfilled! Runners will purchase the essential supplies needed and will be reimbursed for all purchased. Runners will also be required to follow safety protocols and have a reliable mode of transportation to deliver groceries.
