Aven Lin Cobb was born on 11/12/2013. He was born at 32 weeks and went straight to the NICU at Lafayette General. He was diagnosed with bronchial and tracheal malacia. He stayed in the NICU for 2 months and went home for the first time for 3 days and was admitted to Women's and Children's Hospital for a paralyzed diaphragm. He would turn blue and stop breathing in his carseat. Shortly there after, he received a trach and ventilator in Oschner, New Orleans. Aven stay in the hospital was very painful and scary, but Aven was a very strong little boy who would always fight through all his complications. Just last year in August, the genetist in Chicago diagnosed Aven with IPEX syndrome. From there, we got answers on condition of his sickness on October of 2016. Throughout Aven's sickness, he was challenged with motor skills, speech and physical disabilities, but through it all, Aven was still lovable, curious and always eager to learn. Aven recently went to Oschner to get scoped in his large intestines and doctor wrongfully diagnosed him with polyps. Actually, he had c diff, which was the right diagnosis. On October 30, 2017, we went to the ER because Aven was not feeling well and they drew blood and took stool sample then sent us home. Once we got home, his grandmother checked his temperature which spiked to 103.5 and that was when we drove back to Women's and Children's Hospital. From the previous trip, they got the results and it came back positive for c diff. After being admitted to PICU, his conditon worsened. The infection spread to his lung, heart, and liver. Fluids kept building up which resulted in Aven losing his fight on November 8, 2017, just four days before his 4th birthday. We as a family are kindly asking for help to pay for our precious angel's funeral and memorial expenses. We are trying to cover expenses ASAP for Aven's funeral and memorial arrangements to lessen the burden on the family.
