Pat and Wayne Kelley need our help.

Hi, my name is Laurie Poirier and I am setting up this fundraiser for Pat and Wayne Kelley who are my sister in law and brother in law. They are more than that. They have worn and do wear many hats for myself and my husband Rene, Pat's brother.

On Sunday, Pat and Wayne set out to get gas for their generator as the power had gone out in Hope. No big deal, they are quite efficient in taking care of themselves for the most part. All of us though, at times in our life need a helping hand.

Little did Pat and Wayne know the traumatizing experiences coming their way. On their way home from getting gas they narrowly missed colliding with the landslide on the No. 7 Highway. Fortunate enough not to be stuck in between slides they made their way over to the No. 1 Hwy to wait for it to be open. Although grateful they were safe they had another problem. They were stranded outside of Hope with no idea when they could get home to Fergus, Orion and Rigel their beloved dog, cat, and kitten who were at home one their own. By morning these three sweet fur- babies needed to be rescued as the river rose taking Othello Rd., RV's and property. Pat and Wayne will forever be grateful to their hero's who not only took risks to save them, but also took them in and are caring for them until Pat and Wayne can reunite with them. It would not be until Tuesday morning that Pat and Wayne would find out that their home had survived however there was no longer road access to it.

Pat and Wayne are still not able to get back into Hope and even when they do, their home is not habitable. They will not know for weeks what will be the outcome of their insurance claim as their situation is complicated. Their nightmare, like so many others is not over yet and will not be for a while.

We have set the goal of this fundraiser to reflect estimated costs of accommodation, food and clothes once ESS support for accommodation and food runs out this coming Monday. With so many unknowns we will be updating the goal of this fundraiser as required needs are identified and confirmed.
