Parklet for Crema

Dearest friends,
Please accept my deepest thanks for loving, appreciating and supporting Crema, it is with a heavy heart I write today to let you know that we will be closing our doors at the end of September.
I will be making a formal announcement via video on social media tomorrow but wanted to update our generous GO FUND ME donors first.
With the absence of a reasonable rent reduction from our landlord, limited seating, winter (rains) coming, high fixed costs and a building that just really takes quite a few bodies to make it work, we are simply unable to make the numbers work in this Covid season that we find ourselves in.
There has been a lot of tears and, as you can imagine, my heart is broken, but we are proud of what we created, and for the hustle and seemingly endless pivots we made on the road to try and make it all work. BTW my team has been total rock stars, and nothing short of phenomenal during this crisis, if you come in please do tell them I said so!
We had a great run! Our goal is to now make the last six weeks our best ever. I am back in the kitchen baking every morning and steering my team through our last weeks. We are approaching the end of our time at 481 Lighthouse with our heads up, and joyful hearts to be able to give you all a great Crema experience up to the very last day.
Everybody will be receiving a full refund for their donation.
UNLESS. . . YOU WOULD LIKE FOR ME TO KEEP THE DONATION TO HELP WITH OUR OPERATING EXPENSES AND TRANSITION; AS SEVERAL OF YOU HAVE ALREADY REQUESTED.
IF WE DO NOT RECEIVE THIS INSTRUCTION FROM YOU VIA EMAIL YOUR MONEY WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE REFUNDED TO YOU. WE WILL SEND ONE MORE UPDATE LETTING YOU KNOW WHEN TO EXPECT THE REFUND.
Thank you.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting Crema. All of the support and love has been overwhelming and it is so awesome to know that all of our hard work has created such a generous and committed community.
I apologize that it has taken me a bit to reach out. We are still trying to work out how we move forward in this Covid environment. My hope with the parklet was that I would generate the funds to be able to stay afloat until we can do indoor dining again. At the same time, showing our landlord that we are willing to do anything to make it work, including creating this Go Fund Me, in hopes that she would be willing to work with us on the rent. Unfortunately, I received a lawyer letter this week asking for a new lease to be signed with a 3% reduction in rent, despite the fact that my sales are down by 40%.
I am hoping and praying that we will be able to work something out so that we can stay open. Due to this uncertainty, I have not pulled any money out and will not do so until I know we will be able to stay in business to honor all of the gift cards. We will not be accessing the money we have raised until this is worked out. If we haven’t set up withdrawals by September, the money will be automatically refunded to you. If we are able to remain in the building, we will let you know promptly and issue gift-cards shortly thereafter.
Thank you again for your support of our campaign. Please let us know if you have any questions. My email is [email redacted].
HI Cremlins!
So here is it our GoFundMe! Not gonna lie; asking for money really, super sucks!
The truth as we have been discussing being able to keep our doors open or the possibility of closing and it just didn’t feel right to not include you all in the process. If we just closed our doors without opening it up, or asking for help that just didn’t seem right. So here we are . . .
The specific reason for our ask is to pay for our Parklet; the Parklet being the thing that is allowing us to stay afloat and pay our staff right now! Just as an FYI: we have 12 Full Time equivalent staff and order from 10+ local vendors.
So here you have it: our goal is to hit $20,458. Below is the breakdown, all costs are actual except for the reinforcement and safety phase which our contractor estimates to be in the $7,000 range, and we consider to be non-negotiable since folks speed up as they pass our place so we want to make sure the structure is safe for our guests.
Construction Phase 1 $8,742 (actual)
(deck)
Construction Phase 2 $7,000 (estimate)
(safety features)
Outdoor Tables & Chairs $2,100 (actual)
Heaters $1,141 (actual)
Planters & Plants $1,475 (actual)
(barriers and wind block)
$20,458
OKAY so here is the best part! You are getting something fabulous in exchange for helping save Crema!
$10- 100 = gift card
$250 = $275 gift card
$500 = 2- $250 gift cards + 2 Official Crema shirts
$1,000 = Private Brunch for 25 in the Living Room at Crema. Room Rental for 3 hours*
$2,500 = Cocktail Party for 25 at Crema! 3 hour event. 1 app station, 3 passed apps, beer/wine and bubbles. Crema is so beautiful at night time! Includes flowers on the tables, candles, music and excellent food and service!*
