Power for Mani Sherpa

Mani Sherpa was my Sherpa almost all of the way from Lukla to Mount Everest Base Camp. He is a member of the Untouchable Caste. As a result, when power was brought to his village, he and 5 other families were not allowed to be given power. They are shunned and others cannot interact with them. Social norms are changing and now they can get power, but the cost to run it in to the six houses is $2,500.00. That is a lot for poor villagers like Mani and the other untouchables who still have difficulty finding gainful employment. Even if they do, that amount is nearly impossible for them.
