Help Rachel get mobile again with new hips

Hey Rachel here, thank you for taking the time to read this, this is my story and I need your help to get urgent hip replacement surgery.

Age 10 I was diagnosed with a hip disease called slipped upper femoral epiphysis SUFE which without emergency surgery would have caused permanent severe disability. My hip was pinned to allow the femur to grow and fuse normally. 

Age 11 my other hip was diagnosed with SUFE, resulting in emergency surgery and pinning. At 17 they removed the x4 pins holding my hips together. 

Not many people know my previous physical struggles as I have not let this stop me from being active, and not let it define me. Getting fit and active has not been easy for me. I have had to work very hard to have an active and fairly normal life. 

The disease and surgeries have caused early onset of Osteoarthritis, severe hip mobility and extreme pain. 

This limits simple tasks and mobility and I now walk using a walking aid. I need total hip replacements.

The NHS orthopaedic surgery wait time for me is 3 to 5 years!! 

To wait this length I would certainly be in a wheelchair, potentially unemployed, potentially unable to pay my mortgage, with terrible mental health. 

I don’t feel I have any options but to pay privately to have surgery. 

I am going abroad as this is half the UK private cost and I will need x2 replacements. 

The cost is £8000 per hip (abroad). This is a big ask, but if you have the capacity to help no matter how small, I would be forever very grateful. Thank you.
