Our princess, Dawna wilson! May she fly free with the angels

My niece, Dawna Wilson, was born 17 years ago with a rare disability, and only she and her uncle were the only two people alive with this disability.

She went through many different surgeries throughout her young life and has been hospitalized on many occasions. She had to be tube-fed for a few years and overcame that. She finally learned to walk when she was 6 years old but only with her braces on her legs. She could say very few words and was learning to sign. She was mostly a happy kid, and her parents and sisters made sure she was taken care of to the fullest extent. She was very special to all of us.

Three days ago, she went to school like she did every day with her usual routines. But when she came home, her mom noticed she didn't look very good and took her to the hospital. She was admitted right away with yet another bowel obstruction. She has been through this many times, and she is a fighter. Well, she wasn't so strong this time, and she got sepsis. By the next morning, she was on life support, but sadly, Dawna didn't make it.

Our hearts are broken, and we are left devastated. But my brother and his wife need to take care of the arrangements and grieve the loss of their daughter. Krista has been taking care of Dawna full-time, and Mike works to pay the bills, but he is out of vacation time and knows he can't put his full attention into his job while he is grieving. I'm hoping to help ease their mind and help them not stress over bills while they try to cope with this great loss. Please, if you can help in any way, they would be so grateful, as would I. Dawna was their princess from day one, and they can't imagine a life without her in it! It breaks my heart to know that now we all have to learn to live without her sweet smile and infectious laughter.
