Orphan Care Haiti
Bonjou! The main goal of this project is to build a school for orphaned children to attend in the city of Les Cayes, Haiti. With the help of people on the ground, the land will first be purposed as a garden to supply the children with basic gardening skills and reward them with fresh food. Over time, a school will be built and lessons will be hosted by teachers within the community, spurring a new generation of knowledge.
Among those on the ground is Getro, the man who created this project based on his own life experience as an orphan. Losing his parents at a young age, he dealt with much of the hardships that many children are still facing in Haiti. Through pure grit and determination, Getro went on to attend college and become a civil engineer. Working with many non-profits throughout the country, he has been the source of positive change amongst the people and is still driving to do more. Currently working as the project manager on a solar-powered desalination project for GivePower, he has a team assembled in his local community of Les Cayes that are ready to start this project alongside him later in 2021.
Many children have been affected by the past and recent events that have taken place in Haiti, but their dreams of a brighter future are still alive. Any donation will help provide the resources needed to get this project off the ground and a website will be created shortly to document the progress. From the children of Les Cayes, a big mèsi anpil! Thank you very much for donating to and/or sharing this initiative!
