OperaRox Productions: Alcina

"In terms of funding this project, they knew what they were doing.” -Taminophile
After our successful production of Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Handel's Alcina will launch OperaRox Productions' second season!
OperaRox Productions is an extension of the online opera community, OperaRox, which exists digitally on Tumblr, Twitter, and Livestream and as meet-ups in NYC at the Metropolitan Opera. Started by Kimberly Feltkamp and Jaimie Appleton, ORP strives to provide opportunities for young singers to hone their skills and perform important roles in an encouraging and artistically challenging environment. Most of the singers are performing their respective roles for the first time.
OperaRox Productions Strives To:
-provide opportunities to developing artists to hone their skills in meaningful and dramatically challenging productions
-cultivate a safe and encouraging environment in which singers can grow and experiment as artists
-pay all of its artists, putting both financial and artistic trust in every performer and crew member
-spread awareness of opera, especially to a younger audience
As with Figaro, we're working with a shoe-string budget. The reason our budget is higher this time is because everyone who is working on or performing in the show will be paid. In short, 65% of the budget is going directly to the artists. You can see our full company report online here.
