Olive's Heart Surgery

Our names are Nicole & Shawn. We recently adopted a Chihuahua and her name is Olive. She was born on April 4th of this year.
On her very first vet visit it was discovered that she had a heart murmur. We then took her to cardiologist who found that she suffers from a heart condition called PDA. (Patent Ductus Arteriosus).
PDA happens when a blood vessel in the heart, used for transferring oxygen from mother to fetus, fails to close after birth. This can lead to congestion and leakage of fluid into the lungs. Her blood is also less oxygenated due to her condition, which will have long term effects on her health.
As a young puppy, her symptoms are labored breathing, a severe heart murmur, dizziness and weakness at times. In the coming months, the doctor is concerned that her condition will worsen, and she may develop enlarging of the heart. This is likely to result in congestive heart failure, and eventually death.
There is a surgery to correct this condition, which would completely cure her. However, the surgery is $4,000 - $5,000. We're asking you to help us reach out goal of $3,500 to cover the rest of the expenses.
We can reach our goal if:
1000 people donate $3.50 dollars
Per her doctor's suggestion, we’d like to get her surgery before the end of summer, so we can minimize any of the long term effects. UPDATE: Sugery is set for July 11th.
We can’t thank you enough for reading Olive’s story, and hope you can spare a few dollars to help her live a long happy life.
Thanks,
Nicole & Shawn
