Ohana Means Family!
Most days being a parent is already a tough job but, once in a while, life likes to throw an unexpected curveball. Lymphoma is our curveball!
This is Shaiana, she's only 14yrs young. As Shai started her freshman year of high school we worried about many things... grades, sports, friends, boyfriends. Is she a good student? Is she hanging out with the right crowd? Should she tryout for football AND basketball? What we never thought to ask is "does she have cancer?"
The evening of Oct. 25, 2016 we took Shaiana to the local ER for pain in her throat. Before we knew it Shai was being transferred to the children's hospital 180 miles from home. In this foreign hospital, miles away from family and friends, we were told one of the worst things a parent could hear... "your daughter has cancer".
As we await test results to determine the type of lymphoma Shai has, we are forced to face the financial hardship this will be for our family. Parental instinct is to drop everything and be with our daughter but, with 3 younger children at home, it is not an option. After much deliberation, we have decided to reach out for help with the expenses beyond our means in order to be present with our baby girl as much as possible.
Your donation will help with uncovered medical expenses, travel, meals, and lodging if/when necessary since we will not be allowed overnight stays in the hospital. We humbly ask our ohana to help us through this difficult time. We understand that many besides us struggle with money. If you cannot donate, please share our story.
