Hi, my name is Ocyrus Erickson. I need your help to make a once in-a lifetime-opportunity become reality! The Rotary Youth Exchange Program selected me to serve as a student ambassador in 2017-2018.
Let me introduce myself, first. I am 16 years old and live in Clearwater, Florida. I always been curious about the world, which explains my interest in science. I take honors and AP courses while being enrolled in the Institute for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (ISTEM) program at Countryside High School. My special focus is in biotechnology. I am in the top 20% of my class of 488 students. However, working with people takes more than hard science. It requires knowledge and understanding of other cultures, traditions, and histories. Hungary is a fascinating country in the heart of Europe with a rich history. With your help I will spend my junior year in Hungary attending a local school, immerse myself further in Hungarian culture by staying with a host family.
The cost of the exchange is 8,000 dollars, which will fund my room and board at a host family, as well as any of my living expenses. In order to participate in the program, I must raise 8,000 dollars by June 1, 2017. Although I’ll be working hard over the next few months to earn money that will help me reach my goal, this will not be possible without your support.
Rotary International is dedicated to building international relationships to improve lives and create a better world by supporting peace efforts. These goals resonate deeply with me, and I am honored to be given the opportunity. I am honored to represent my country, state, high school, and my family.
Your contribution would mean the world to me. I will be forever thankful, but I can only offer small gestures in return along with my gratitude. Every little bit will help, and I can't do it without your encouragement, contributions and support. All donors will receive a personal thank you from me, as well as links to my blog and social media accounts so that you can follow me on my travels. However, if you donate
$25: I will send you a postcard from Hungary with a personal message from me.
$50: I will send you some world famous Hungarian paprika.
$150 or more: I will send you a piece of Hungarian culture while I’m there.
If you’re exceptionally generous and fund my whole trip I will get a tattoo of your name. Just kidding! My mother would not allow that - or would she??
Thank You!
