LA Marathon for Maddox
Donation protected
Dear Friends and family,
As many of you already know, I am running the LA Marathon on Sunday March 15th, 2015. When I signed up for the marathon I knew I wanted to run with a purpose. I prayed that I would be led to a family that I could sponsor. With some help from friends, I was introduced to a doctor at St. Jude that led me to a 6 year old boy named Maddox Stienert. I received a video that shared his story and I knew at that moment my prayers were answered. Maddox's story touched me so deeply and I instantly knew that I had found my purpose.
Maddox was diagnosed with NF1, following an emergency surgery to relieve hydrocephalus, or water in his brain. That day they also learned that Maddox has a lesion on his brain stem. They would later learn that he has a massive tumor called a plexiform neurofibroma that runs from his skull to his T4 on his spine. The following year they also discovered that he is virtually blind in his right eye, with the cause unknown. Seeing him, you would never guess that he has so much going on inside of his little body.
I truly feel that with your help, we can make a difference in Maddox's life. No child should ever have to go through such pain and hardship. I am dedicating my run to him as I will channel all my strength to run 26.2 miles in hopes this gives him the strength to keep fighting. I am so humbled and honored to have the ability to help such an amazing little boy.
I know raising a child is challenging on its own, let alone a child that requires extensive medical attention. Therefore, 100% of the money I raise will be delivered to the Stienert's to help ease any of the hardships their family has endured. There is no donation too small. I thank you all in advance for your generosity and for the gift of giving.
