Hi, My name is Meghan Volpi. We are starting a GoFundMe page for our daughter Kaylee and our family as times have continued to be difficult for Kaylee. In August of 2022 Kaylee was diagnosed with UC and sadly the medical staff did not handle the situation in a timely manner causing us to almost lose Kaylee. She needed to have emergency surgery on September 17, 2022. In the following 8 months Kaylee endured 2 more surgeries to reverse having a coloscopy bag and remove her colon. She went a great 8 months from May 2023 to recently in January when she suffered another set back and now having to start the process all over again. Due to medical mistakes at one facility we have had to move her another facility for care. This has caused myself to take a leave from work to care for Kaylee while in the hospital being further from our home making our family financial situation worse then it had been getting with loss of income, increased medical bills and other debt that is becoming more difficult to handle. Kaylee is far from being back to being a normal teenager with a normal high school life. She missed her sophomore year having to do virtual school cause of surgeries and now missing the end of her junior year at a real school again which she loved being back with kids everyday. As a family the stress and lifelong affects this will have on Kaylee herself are nothing we could have ever imagined. If you are willing to and can help we as a family would greatly appreciate it as we are basically starting to fight this disease from the start again in recent months and Kaylee will be fighting this the rest of her life. She has been in the hospital too many months in total to count the last two years and as of today she has been in two different hospitals for over a month currently.
